Chief Jeffrey Palmer
Chief Jeffrey Palmer is a lifelong resident of the City of Girard, and graduated from Girard High School. Chief Palmer attended Youngstown State University and graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy at Hiram College.
Chief Palmer was hired as a patrolman with the Girard Police Department in 1989 and was assigned to the Trumbull County Drug Task Force in 1991. After two years of Narcotics Investigations, Chief Palmer returned to his patrol duties until being promoted to the rank of Captain in 2000. Chief Palmer acted as a Road Patrol Supervisor until 2005 when he was assigned to the position of Investigations Captain, in charge of the Detective Bureau. In 2009, Chief Palmer was promoted to the rank of Chief of Police for the City of Girard.
In 2017, Chief Palmer retired from the Girard Police Department with 28 years of dedicated service and accepted the position of Major of Operations with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office. While working as a Major under Sheriff Monroe, Chief Palmer was responsible for the oversight of all Sheriff’s Office Operations, excluding jail operations. Chief Palmer remained in that position until January 2022, when he was promoted to Chief Deputy of the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office.
